Climate, Environmental Degradation and Disaster Risk in Myanmar (2022)

MIMU Analytical Briefs shine a light on topical, emerging and under-explored issues relevant to humanitarian and development support in Myanmar based on analysis of available information.

This fourth and latest Analytical Brief focuses on the changing landscape of Myanmar in terms of climate, environmental degradation and disaster risk based on a review of recent research, hazard modeling, and available data on living standards (2014-2019) and conflict incidents (2019-2021). It reviews the changing areas and populations at risk of exposure to natural disasters. This Brief includes a short narrative document along with a detailed methodology describing the data and calculations used, as well as the dataset to enable others to take this analysis further.
