Annual casualty data from 2020 to 2024 is also analysed to illustrate trends since 2021.

211 Townships with Suspected Landmine/ERW Contamination Recorded Between 1999 and 2025
Since 2020, 163 additional townships have been recorded with landmine/ERW contamination. The largest annual increase occurred between 2020 and 2021, with 52 newly affected townships. As of Oct 2025, Shan State has the most townships with suspected contamination over the 1999 to 2025 period. All states and regions have reported suspected contamination.
3,597 Total Reported Casualties from Landmine/ERW events between 2021 and 2024 in Myanmar
Between 2021 and 2024, Shan State has the highest total number of reported casualties. Annual casualties increased from 279 in 2020 to 368 in 2021, with 2024 recording the highest single-year total at 1,686. All states and regions have reported casualties. Since 2021, three townships, Dawei (Tanintharyi Region), Lashio (Shan State), and Kanbalu (Sagaing Region) suffered the highest total number of mine/ERW casualties.
