Pcodes Changes Explorer, Jan 2026 Pcodes v9.7
Some of Myanmar's hardest-to-reach villages are being mapped through MIMU's Pcodes initiative, started in 2007, to support humanitarian and development activities across the country. MIMU Place Codes, or Pcodes, are unique identifiers assigned to settlements across the country. They are widely adopted as a standard for managing, analysing, and sharing location-based data in Myanmar.
4 rounds of Pcodes updates since 2021 have brought the total number of villages in the MIMU database to 66,659. Of these, 81.9% (54,604 villages) have recorded coordinates, allowing them to be mapped for humanitarian and development activities. Our quest must continue to locate the coordinates of the remaining 12,000+ villages, many of which are in Kachin and Shan States.
