The ICCG Small Group for Disability Inclusion was initially formed in March 2021 to promote and support the inclusion of persons with disabilities in humanitarian efforts. In July 2022, the group was reorganized as the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) on Disability Inclusion, establishing a structured workplan, Terms of Reference (ToR), and a co-chairing system to enhance its effectiveness and governance.

A significant milestone in the TAG’s progress has been the growing participation of Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs). Nearly half of the current TAG members now represent local OPDs, highlighting their increasing involvement and leadership in disability-inclusive initiatives.

Since April 2024, the TAG has adopted a co-chairing system led by an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) and a local OPD, further strengthening collaboration and ensuring diverse representation in decision-making. Additionally, the group has consistently facilitated annual consultations with OPDs since 2021, fostering dialogue, feedback, and inclusive planning to enhance the effectiveness of humanitarian interventions.
