Data Support and & Analysis
MIMU Catalogue of Activities and Achievements ( January – December 2020 )
Data Compilation and Visualisation
MIMU compiles key statistical data from different sources to support planning and resource allocation in humanitarian, development and peace-related sectors in Myanmar. MIMU Baseline Data collates data from multiple sources over 10+ years, allowing trend analysis over time, while MIMU interactive dashboards provide Township Profiles, Monastic Education, Vulnerability and the 2014 Population and Housing Census data in forms which can be more easily searched and analysed. Agencies working in humanitarian, development and peace-related sectors can request MIMU technical support on data and database issues by contacting MIMU directly or submitting a Data Request.
In 2020:
- 8,500 downloads of MIMU Baseline Data, containing countrywide data on 273 indicators from over 370 sources to support planning and monitoring processes;
- Over 12,000 downloads of MIMU infographics - including the Landmine/ERW contamination and casualties infographic developed together with the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, and MIMU’s mapping of Inter-agency Coordination teams;
- 26 Data requests from 20 agencies, and updating of the Monastic Education Dashboard with data provided by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture.
Vulnerability Analysis
MIMU has developed several analytical products to support programming, strategy, policy development and resource allocation in humanitarian, development and peace-related sectors. These include the Situation Analysis of southeastern Myanmar (2016, MIMU/PSF) and Vulnerability in Myanmar (2018/19, MIMU/HARP-F) – a countrywide analysis exploring vulnerability, needs, coverage and gaps by township. MIMU’s Vulnerability dashboard allows quick comparison of vulnerability by township.
MIMU Analytical Briefs are a new initiative to highlight topical, emerging and under-explored issues relevant to humanitarian and development support in Myanmar.
In 2020
- Preparation of MIMU’s first Analytical Brief, Changing Sources of Drinking Water in Myanmar (2014 - 2019), for launch in early 2021. It compares, for the first time, measurements of different levels of drinking water services between 2014 and 2019.
