Myanmar NGOs meet regularly among themselves for better coordination and cooperation as well as sharing and updating their experience and work in the field. This has at times been in Joint Coordination Meetings involving UN Agencies, INGOs and LNGOs. As of October 2008, LNGOs have been meeting twice a month. Meetings were organized and sponsored by CBI until February 2013, when it was decided to share co-lead responsibilities among Myanmar NGOs. This Myanmar NGO bi-weekly meeting is very important and essential for all Myanmar NGOs and CBOs as the only platform/venue for them to meet, share, and update their work, experience and information as well as seek opportunities for projects and programmes they can implement together. Other joint initiatives from these meetings include the Myanmar NGO Contingency Plan and its cluster groups, the DRR working group, and ad-hoc activities such as selection of representatives for MIMU Advisory Board and the ASEAN People’s Forum. Since this meeting belongs to all Myanmar NGOs including small, medium and large NGOs, CBOs and even self-help groups, it has been organized, sponsored and managed by a group of Myanmar NGOs called “Meeting Management Committee” as of 5 February 2013. At present there are 7 organizations involved in the Management Committee which is an open committee sharing responsibilities related to the meeting.
